Extensions and alterations to a dwelling, Farnham

MCA were engaged to extend and alter this detached property in The Sands, Farnham. The property is located within the Green Belt, Surrey Hills National Landscape (formerly known as the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and an Area of Great Landscape Value and therefore we developed a planning strategy to extend the house using both Guildford Borough Council’s Local Plan policies and Permitted Development (PD) rights. The dwelling was completely remodelled to provide a large kitchen/dining/living area, drawing room and snug as well as a new master suite and south facing roof terrace. The design sought to ameliorate the appearance of a later 1980s extension and incorporated grey timber cladding at first floor level to unify the appearance of the building with more contemporary design elements. Planning permission was also obtained for a detached triple garage, an outbuilding providing a home office and the extensive landscaping which surrounds the property.
